We believe in teamwork. Charles Silverstein and Michael M. Bast work on every case together. While Charles conducts most of the trials and Michael supervises most of the paperwork, every strategic decision is the result of teamwork. We are proud of our successes as the David in the war with Goliath.
The public should be aware that medical malpractice cases are more difficult than ordinary injury cases. Our opponents are highly trained and well funded, with vast resources to shield their clients. Physicians are generally well educated and well dressed; they make sympathetic witnesses, and jurors are reluctant to return verdicts against them.
To win a malpractice case, we must devote more time, energy and brainpower than our adversaries. This is only possible with a small caseload. We consciously keep our case inventory small. We carefully select no more than 15-20 new cases each year, so that each client can receive the intensive focus and attention he or she deserves.
New York law requires an attorney to consult with a medical expert prior to commencing a medical malpractice lawsuit. In order to insure that the cases we select are medically justified, we consult with the very highest quality board certified physicians. Because of these factors, our firm can only accept very significant cases.
